Continuing education has always been an important part of life at Evergreen Veterinary Surgery. We aim to provide a high standard of patient care and both the veterinary surgeons and the nurses have to regularly update their knowledge. For many years Christine Ding has been particularly involved in continuing education, through her role in the NW region of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association. She has held the posts of both Chairperson and Secretary.
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has recently developed a post-graduate course for veterinary surgeons in general practice. For the last 3 years Christine has been working towards this qualification, as part of the pilot group. The course consists of separate modules, dealing firstly with key skills that professionals need to develop a means of life-long self-evaluation, then progressing to specific Small Animal modules that cover medicine, surgery, consultation skills and clinical audit. In November she became one of five veterinary surgeons in the country to be awarded the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Vet GP) and the only one to gain a distinction. In fact she gained distinction in all her modules! Congratulations Christine!
